Flower Power exhibition closes with a Silent Auction to benefit the Blanco County Cat Coalition

cw

Several photographers participating in the Flower Power exhbition kindly donated their prints to be auctioned off during our Silent Print Auction. You can view the auction images hanging in the gallery from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Saturday, May 23rd at the gallery located at 105 N. Nugent Ave. in Johnson City, TX. You can also view the images online, look at the minimum bids online, and send an email inquiry to bid on an image if you are not able to come into the gallery.

All of the gallery's proceeds from the auction will benefit a new local charity, Blanco County Cat Coalition. You can find out more about this organization by visiting their website.

The artists have set the minimum bids as low as 40% of the retail price so you'll have a chance to own a work of art and support these photographers! Plus, you'll help out this great organization that also needs your support! Come out and catch the final day of the Flower Power exhibition!

Our next Call for Entries: Fantastic Plastic

Carolyn Whiteside

Watson Studio Gallery and theTexas Photographic Societyare teaming up to bring you the next juried exhibition! The theme is "Fantastic Plastic ".

"To hold, point and shoot a (plastic) Diana camera implies a conscious decision to relinquish control. To concentrate your creative powers on capturing the moment and telling a story – rather than fiddling with a bunch of knobs and levers." This quote from the Society of Lomography sums up the goal of this exhibition. Fantastic Plastic will feature the work of selected avant-garde artists who challenge themselves to create compelling images with plastic cameras and other "lo-fi" cameras such as Holga, Lomo, pin-hole, Lensbabies lenses, cell-phone cameras, home-made cameras, TtV with vintage cameras, etc. The jurors will be Susan Burnstine and Carol Watson.

Submissions will open on May 25th. More information on the Call For Entries will be sent via email to the photographers on our mailing lists and be posted on the gallery's website on May 24th.
